Company History
Indesign Furniture started life as Little Tree Furniture which began trading in 2012. A family run business, Little Tree Furniture specialised in the creation of handmade, unique and individual furniture pieces made from reclaimed materials. Travelling the world can open the door to a feeling of intense inspiration and this was how Little Tree Furniture was born.
Neil Buckley-Jensen and his wife Aimee started family run Little Tree Furniture after being inspired by their trips to India when both were working as cabin crew. Neil was always interested in furniture as his Grandad was a cabinet maker and he would spend hours of his childhood in his Grandads workshop fascinated by the craftsmanship. Neil went onto to study cabinet making at college and is a qualified carpenter. That coupled with Neil and Aimee’s trips to India, they were both inspired by the woodworking they saw there, with craftspeople using old colonial tools. After many trips, the couple bought an old house in the south-east of England and after renovating they decided to ‘have a go’ at designing furniture and having it made in India whilst learning quite quickly how to import it back to the UK!
Once the furniture made it back to the UK, it proved quite popular with friends and family who went on to order some. And so, the company was born, a website set up and launched and their home became a ‘live-in’ showroom for a while in the early days!
Their online presence grew, and it was not long before the company was working with top-quality retailers in the UK who began stocking and promoting their Little Tree Furniture branded products offering the eclectic collections to a wider audience. It was not long before the company realised that they needed a distributor. The company no longer sells directly to consumers, all product is now distributed to retailers around the globe via partnered distributors in numerous countries which means the company can continue to do what It does best – design great product and get it made.
With the success of Little Tree Furniture, the company was restructured and a parent company formed named ‘Indesign Furniture’. Further brands were launched by Neil and Aimee specialising in many types of categories and styles of furniture product, including the ‘Northshore’ brand that is trend driven with contemporary designs that are fashionable whilst being affordable. They also set a sister company called ‘Chili Pepper Designs’ – www.chillipepperdesigns.co.uk, which is a CGI company specialising in the creation of furniture and interior lifestyle imagery.
Neil and Aimee’s success in the UK in the furniture industry has been unprecedented and reaches far beyond their original dream of creating and selling furniture from their home back in 2012. They are proud of their achievements and now have their product in some of the best stores across the globe. Indesign Furniture now has its own factory and manufacturing facilities which has always been an ambition that has recently been achieved and accomplished allowing the company to thrive with design and manufacturing. It has been a real leap of faith but, as Neil always says, ‘he who dares wins!’ – a moto that so far, coupled with hard work and determination has proved true!
